Health card

Health sector has been in focus of administration in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Recently the administration has taken huge number of steps in order to bring more and more people under the government sponsored health cover. In this direction, in a move aimed at improving the health and overall well being of over 12 lakh students of government schools in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu recently launched the Student Health Card scheme here.

This is the first step to cover student community in Jammu and Kashmir under the government health schemes and as the direction of the government; these students would be covered who are presently enrolled in government schools.

These cards will contain information about the immunization record of a child, bi-annual examination of a child, check list of commonly existing disorders among children and their preliminary diagnostic tools, tabular description of periodic health profile matrices and a brief description of commonly occurring diseases and ailments among children.

Health authorities will have to intervene more so that more and more children are covered under such schemes in the rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir. There are huge numbers of students who are not enrolled in government schools but belong to very poor families and need such government health schemes for their well being. However the step taken by LG Murmu is a huge one in direction of providing health cards to the children in Jammu and Kashmir as they are the future here.
