Ladakh under lockdown

All commercial flights to Union Territory of Ladakh have been cancelled after 13 people have tested positive in this hilly region. To combat spread of COVID-19 virus, administration has taken slew of measures including lockdown so that it does not spread further.

A senior administrative official recently said that about six more people having the symptoms of COVID-19 virus were being closely monitored in an isolation centre and their tests were awaited. Among those who have tested positive in Ladakh include one army personnel and many more Jawans have been isolated due to their primary contact with the infected Jawan.

The administration was taking all steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus and special precautions were being taken in the army units to prevent the spread of the virus. Isolation centres have been created in the army and paramilitary units of Ladakh so that the virus does not infect more jawans.

Administration in Ladakh has already banned the entry of foreign tourists, have closed down all educational institutions and other such organizations in the wake of growing number of patients showing the symptoms of COVID-19 virus. According to the doctors who are attending such patients in Leh, the fresh cases showing positive results have no travel history and might have come in contact with previous positive cases.

Secretary Commissioner told media that they are sanitizing all the affected areas and claimed that he has deputed several medical teams with diagnostic equipment in these areas to look for more cases of COVID-19 virus.
