Strict restrictions, several people detained in Kashmir

Police and Security forces right from the evening of Monday up to the morning of Tuesday detained several common people on the streets of Srinagar and other parts and also seized vehicles, in order to keep people indoors due to COVID-19 threat. Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir are under lockdown for six running day today.
A Police officer told this MK reporter that they were forced to take action at several places as people were violating prohibitory orders issued under 144 crpc. He also confirmed that dozens of violators were detained and booked in Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, Sopore and Handwara districts.
He told this reporter that they will allow only those people to come out who have geniune emergency. While the people in Srinagar and other parts complained that even the people connected with emergency service were being not allowed, police said that they have instructions only to allow people after proper screening.
A senior police officer told this reporter this noon that the general public are requested to cooperate and not to venture on streets without any emergency. He said that strict restrictions were being imposed for the safety of general public and appealed especially youth to stay at home.
