3 WEEKS AND COUNTING

In Srinagar and many areas of Kashmir, we have completed 3 weeks of lockdown, imposed by the government to avoid the spread of Covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir.
The lockdown will continue at least till April 14, as the number of positive cases in Srinagar and other areas of Kashmir valley are only multiplying.
We have failed to be truthful and many of us are becoming threat to our lives as they are still hiding their travel history and some are trying to hide their contact with positive patients. This would be one of the Shabi-Barat’s when people of Kashmir will not converge to Masjids, Shrines to pray for the whole night.
It would be great if all of us will avoid going to the graveyards today so that social distance is maintained and life threating infection is avoided. People have shown great patience by not going to Masjids even on Friday’s and this phase will pass as the clouds of death are hovering over us, right now.
People of Srinagar city have by and large cooperated with authorities, but due to lax attitude of few persons, we all have to suffer due to lockdown. Authorities have no choice but to prolong it, if we will not stay indoors, maintain social distance and not create small gatherings within our localities.
Srinagar city has a huge chunk of population who are praying for the lifting of lockdown as due to months of disruption in life, they are virtually without money to survive with their families. We should remain united and should try to help each other in our own localities as many of our neighbors need a helping hand.
