SRINAGAR TO REMAIN SHUT

Srinagar city and other areas of the district will be under continuous lockdown without any easing of restrictions till May 3, 2020. Srinagar city has large number of families who have exhausted all their little cash and have virtually no money to purchase even the essential items.

District administration officially has not given any indication about their plan to feed such families as Srinagar city is under severe lockdown from March 19, 2020.

According to the official order issued by District Magistrate Srinagar, the restrictions will remain in force till May 3, 2020. It says, “in view of the prevailing health situation because of outbreak of COVID-19 the District Magistrate Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has ordered extension of restrictions enforced under order issued on March 25 in the district till May 3.

Issuing an order under Section 144 of CrPC the DM has ordered that there shall be complete restrictions on public movement and operation of business and other establishments in the district all through this extended period”.

The order states that in view of the situation in the district with various areas notified as COVID-19 containment or red zones which add up to large part of the district it is imperative that the ongoing restrictions remain enforced until required.

District administration of Srinagar is doing it to save the people from COVID-19 virus but they have the responsibility to save them from hunger also. They should keep in mind that Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir have been under lockdown and have witnessed a disruptive life without any business from August 5 last year till date.
