Money stolen from Jawahar Nagar Gurudwara
Srinagar, May 30, KNT: Burglars stole money from the donation box at the Jawahar Nagar Gurudwara in Kashmir capital Srinagar during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
Jaspal Singh, Chairman Guru Prabandakh Committee Srinagar told News Agency KNT that the theft took place between 12 and 1 am of the night.
“Two persons who committed theft are visible in the CCTV footage procured by the Gurudwara. They stole some money from one of the  the donation boxes. The total cash stolen is around Rs 50,000,” he said.
Jaspal Singh said the burglars have stolen cash from small donation box while they have failed to break the lock of another big donation box. They used swords and other instruments lying in the Gurudwara to break the lock of big donation box (Goluk) but failed in the attempt.
He said police rushed to spot to ascertain the facts. “Miscreants have no religion and as for as this incident is concerned, it seems the work of drug addicts, because they have lit a number of match sticks while stealing the money,” he said and appealed media not to give religious colour to the incident.
Pertinent to mention here is that burglars stole a donation box from a Muslim shrine in Frisal area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district a couple of days ago.
A police official said that a case has been registered, CCTV footage procured and investigation set into motion. (KNT)
