Dr Farooq, Omar Abdullah express grief over demise of Sardar Janak Singh Sodhi

Srinagar, 31 May (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party President, Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah expressed profound grief over the demise of veteran Party Leader, Former GPC Baramulla, and President of Shiromani Akal Dal Kashmir Sardar Janak Singh Sodhi, who breathed his last at SKIMS Soura today after brief illness.
According to statement issued to KNS, While extending condolences to the mournful family, Party President and Vice President prayed for peace to the soul of deceased and much needed strength to the grief-stricken family. The duo called him a man of integrity, empathy saying that he had deep conviction for the ideals of secularism and pluralism. His role in furthering the cause of inter-religious harmony is immense, the duo said.
Party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi while expressing grief over the demise of Sodhi Sahib said that Sodhi Sahib always worked tirelessly for strengthening brotherhood and amity between different sections of society. “He was known for working on various issues concerning the society. His conviction for secularism was immense. He had dedicated his life for the welfare of downtrodden and deprived. He always voiced for marginalized voices, and promoted social cohesion. It’s a personal loss for me, I pray for peace to the departed soul. I also express solidarity with the mournful family in their hour of grief.”
Among others Party Members of Parliament Hasnain Masoodi, Muhammad Akbar Lone, Chief Spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi ; North Zone vice President Dr Sajad Shafi Uri; District President Baramulla Javed Dar, JS Azad, Jaspal Singh, Moti Singh, and GH Rahi have also expressed profound grief over the demise of Sodhi sahib. The party functionaries also expressed unison with the grief stricken family in their hour of bereavement. (KNS)
