Lachipora Uri residents appeal authorities to repair damaged wooden bridge

Uri, June 06 (KNS): Residents of Lachipora (B) Dazana, Uri of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday appealed authorities to repair the damaged wooden bridge in the area which has taken heavy toll over the movement of passersby.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), residents of the area stated that since last ten years authorities have abandoned the area at developmental front. They said a wooden bridge in Lachipora (B) Dazana Ward No.10 has been completely damaged since ten years which left the lives of passersby to risk.

They said despite a decade has passed now, authorities seemed disinterested in the development of the area. They added during last month a six-year old boy fell down from the damaged bridge and died on spot.

SHO Bijhama Nasir Ahmad Bhat also confirmed the death of a minor namely Sahir Ahmad Sudan (Khan) son of Maqsood Sudan of Dazna village who died on May 5, 2020 due to trespassing over bridge.

Sarpanch of the Village Mohammad Aslam Khan also narrated the inconvenience being faced by residents of the area and appealed higher authorities to pay heed to the pleas of villagers and repair the damaged bridge without any delay so that lives of villagers could be saved. (KNS)
