Anantnag, June 8, KNT: A Kashmiri Padit who was Sarpanch Larkipora here in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district was shot dead by suspected militants on Monday.
Sources told news agency KNT that gunmen open fire on the Pandit Sarpanch at Larkipora Anantnag leaving him critically injured.
Medical Superintendent District Hospital Anantnag, Dr Majid Mehrab told KNT that Sarpanch was brought dead in the hospital. He had bullet wounds on his left shoulder and face.
The deceased Sarpanch has been identified as Ajay Pandita alias Bharti. He had been nominated as Sarpanch from Lokbawan Larkipora.
