Transformers sanctioned 2 year ago yet to get installed in Sogam Kupwara

Kupwara, June 11: Residents of Bhat Mohallah, Sogam in north Kashmir’s Kupwara area up in arms against the Power Development Department (PDD) as it failed to install the transformer in the village sanctioned two years back.

The residents said there are around 50 households in Bhat Mohalllah, Sogam and the village is having only 63KV transformer for 70 households which often getting damage due to heavy load. They said if the transformer was sanctioned two years back through Constituency Development Fund (CDF) of the then local MLA but so far it has not been installed by the department leaving people to suffer.

Ajaz Ahmad, a local, told KNS that they fail to understand that why the department is delaying to install the transformer which was sanctioned to the village two years back He further said they have informed the concern officials several times but nothing has been done to install the transformer in the village.

When KNS contacted Executive Engineer PDD Kupwara, he said that the transformer has been sanctioned by local MLA from CDF and the payment of the same has not been given to the department till date which was the reason that transformer has not been installed in the area. (KNS)
