Three militants killed in South Kashmir gunfight Internet snapped

 

Shopian, June 16, KNT: Three local militants including two top Commanders have been killed in an encounter that broke out in the Turkawangam village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district early morning on Tuesday.

Local sources told News Agency KNT that three militants have reportedly been killed in the encounter by the government forces including soldiers from 44 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF personnel from 173 Battalion.

According to reports, a joint team of special operations of J&K Police, Army and troopers launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Turkawangam.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire at them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering an encounter.

A senior police officer confirmed the exchange of fire between the joint team of forces and the militants. Local sources while confirming the killing of 3 militants said that encounter had started at around 4 in the morning.

Meanwhile mobile internet service has been suspended in the district.
