Despite witnessing a spike in the Covid cases, J&K witnessed an “encouraging jump” in the recovery rate from 30 per cent to 56 per cent in the past 10 days.
On June 9, the recovery rate in J&K was just 30 per cent — out of the total 4,285 active cases only 1,324 have recovered.
Situation is more inspiring in the Kashmir valley where the recovery rate is more than 58 per cent despite a spike in positive cases. On June 18, out of total 4,272 positive cases, 2,511 cases have been cured and discharged from hospitals.
The situation has been improving during the past 10 days as on Tuesday the recovery rate jumped to over 56 per cent. Out of the total 5,555 positive cases, 3,144 have been cured and discharged from hospitals.
In the last week of April, the recovery rate in the Jammu province was over 72 per cent, which was much higher as compared to the other parts of the country. But in two months, the situation has changed drastically as the recovery rate dropped from 72 per cent to 22 per cent on June 1, which again jumped to nearly 50 per cent on Tuesday.
However, the position of J&K continues to be worse as far as reporting of positive cases is concerned.
On June 9, total positive cases in J&K were 4,285, including 2,916 active cases. Within a period of 10 days the Covid tally rose to 5,555.
