Galwanpora Hyderpora Residents Express Displeasure Over Stoic Attention of R&B, Appeals For Road Maintenance

Srinagar, June 25 (KNS): Residents of Galwanpora Hyderpora on Thursday expressed strong displeasure over stoic approach of R&B officials who left the road unattended from several years despite issuing NITs.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), locals said that the road from Jamia Masjid Hyderpora to Gangbug locality has been abandoned by R&B and have made local population to suffer unnecessarily. They said the surface of the road has been badly damaged due to unwanted weather conditions which caused inconvenience to pedestrians and travelers.
Bashir Ahmad Bhat, a local told KNS that authorities completed the drainage project in the area couple of years ago but after that the surface of the road sunk at several locations which turned the area into streams during rainy season.
“It becomes very difficult for locals to trespass the area in wet season. Despite repeated requests conveyed to the concern officials, no heed has been paid yet”, another local said.
He said, “Whenever it rains, the potholes get filled with and thereby making it hard for the pedestrians to walk”.
On June 21st, 2019 Department of Roads & Buildings have publicized NIT vide number 47/MDB/3300-3320 of 2019-20 Dated 21.06.2019 but despite of passing two years, no work has been started yet. According to locals, there is a dispute between the contractors which has made area unattended so far.
They added some agency who has given permission couple of days back, have started patch work on the stretch but no step had been taken over the NIT issued two years ago.
“It seems bizarre that two year ago issued NIT have been shelved due to dispute between the contractors and a couple of days ago given permission is being executed”, locals rued.
Meanwhile Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) R&B Budgam Shoib Ahmad while talking to KNS said all those NITs issued before August 2019 stand cancelled across and said still the department has forwarded the case to higher authorities.
