Recovered cops screened for plasma

Amid the rising number of Covid-19 cases, a plasma screening camp was organised at Kashmir Nursing Home for screening of donors who have recovered from the infection.

The J&K Police in collaboration with the Department of Health and Medical Education organised the plasma screening camp. The camp was inaugurated by Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh.

“Under this initiative the J&K Police personnel who had contracted the infection and have recovered will be voluntarily donating their plasma,” a police spokesman said.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP complemented the donors, doctors, paramedical staff, police personnel for the collective fight against coronavirus. He appreciated them for doing a marvellous job in safeguarding the health of the masses and ensuring their safety.

“About 300 police personnel have recovered and will be screened for donating their plasma,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Valley’s premier heath institute Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, has installed sophisticated machinery for conducting plasmapheresis for Covid-19 patients.

“This is an outstanding development. With these sophisticated machines, we would now be able to conduct plasmapheresis for Covid-19 patients with some precision,” Director, SKIMS, and Ex-Officio Secretary to Government Dr AG Ahangar said.

“The machine was procured to combat the Covid-19 crisis on a war footing and the machine is fitted with a highly sophisticated connector device,” he said.
