25-year-old youth from Ramban dies of COVID; J&K death toll at 330

In the last 12 hours, Jammu and Kashmir reported nine deaths.

With a 25-year-old boy from Ramban district of Jammu province, the COVID death toll stands at 330.

According to reports, the 25-year-old youth from Ramban district tested positive on July 15. He was admitted at the isolation ward of the Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu, on July 21.

The boy was put on oxygen on July 27, and died on early Tuesday morning. The youth’s death was the first fatality due to the virus in Ramban district.

Ramban district has recorded a surge in positive cases during the last week. Till Monday evening, there were 502 positive cases in the district. Some remotest areas of this district have emerged as hotspots.

Earlier, eight deaths due to COVID-19 took place in Kashmir since Monday night. So far 306 deaths have been reported in Kashmir and 24 in Jammu division.

Srinagar district has reported 98-highest number deaths in the UT followed by Baramulla (64), Kulgam (27), Budgam (25), Anantnag (21), 20 each in Shopian and Pulwama, Kupwara (17), Jammu(15), Bandipora (9), Ganderbal (6), two each in Rajouri and Doda and one each in Ramban , Poonch, Udhampur, and Kathua.
