SMC to start special sanitation drive in Srinagar ahead of Eid

SRINAGAR: On the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) will start a two-day special sanitation drive across the city starting from Tuesday.
Chief Sanitation Officer (CSO), SMC Mudasir Banday told Kashmir Reader that the two days special sanitation drive will start from Tuesday till July 29.
He said in addition to routine sanitation, focus will remain to clean unattended areas, black spots, open plots and roadside sweeping for which water sprinkling vehicles will be provided to almost every ward.
“Some of the bad spots have been already identified which will be communicated to concerned ward officers,” Banday said.
He urged all ward officers to impart necessary instructions to the sanitation staff and share/upload photographs. In case an extra transport facility is required that can be provided on call.
Banday also said citizens of Srinagar City are requested to contact CSO and concerned ward officers for identification of bad spots
During the drive, he said their focus will be on clearing garbage along roadside and open plots, clearing all roadside bushes, waste plants, and shrubs. “All activities would be started early in the morning during the two-day program and would continue as per the action plan,” Banday said.
