NO 4G YET

While we are only a few days away from August 5, 2020, which will mark the first anniversary of abrogation of article 370, in Jammu and Kashmir. It was during the same period of previous year when the central government decided to downgrade Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories of Ladakh and JK.

In order to avoid any protest and political dissent on the streets, the government decided for a heavy clampdown, bringing thousands of troops to Kashmir valley.

All means of communication including even the landlines were snapped as a precautionary measure and clampdown remain in force in months together.

After complete blackout of communication for the longest period in the history so far, the government decided to ease communication restrictions restoring it in a phased manner.

But the 4G services continued to remain snapped in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, forcing many groups of society to approach the Supreme Court for its restoration. After the hearing matter several times and petitioners explained at length the hardships and difficulties faced by every limb of society in Kashmir due to the low speed of the internet.

The Supreme Court finally without giving any order told the government to make a high level panel and decide about the space to be provided to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their fundamental right and its balance with national security.
