Even after re-imposition lockdown on Eid ul Adha, there are no signs that the curve of pandemic is going to flatten in Kashmir valley. Strange but true, authorities have typically moved one step forward two step backward to control coronavirus spread especially in Srinagar city.
Administration allowed people to mingle freely and go to picnic spots, opening parks and gardens, then re-imposing the lockdown to arrest the growing spread of a virus.
Imposing strict lockdown, followed by complete lifting curbs is a surprise notion from the authorities to control a viral disease. In such scenarios with the poor health care system in place, the government has already amended the SOP’s about the patients and have allowed those with less symptoms to be home quarantined.
Doctors have been pleading in the media that they are running out of space not to speak about medicines and ventilators. Junior doctors recently told the media that even their seniors do not come regularly leaving us with nurses to combat the growing cases of coronavirus.
Amid such confusion and chaos in the hospitals of Srinagar there have been reports of clashes between the attendants and paramedical staff in absence of doctors. Police have been arresting attendants of patients and FIR’s against them. They have refused in many cases to file counter FIR’s by the attendants alleging negligence and harassment by the paramedical staff of these hospitals.
