July 18 Shopian Encounter: Will go for DNA Examination, Says IGP Kashmir

IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar Thursday said that a
police team led by a DSP rank officer from Kashmir has been sent to Rajouri to complete legal formalities including lifting DNA samples with regard to the missing of three Rajouri persons.

Kumar revealed this in response to a question with regard to an alleged Shopian fake encounter.

“We are trying to evaluate the case of these missing person through all evidences including technical details after their families filed a missing report. We have already taken the DNA samples of three ‘terrorists’ killed in Shopian encounter before burial which will be sent to Central forensic Laboratory to ascertain the facts,” IGP said on the sidelines of full dress rehearsal ahead of 15 August celebrations at SK Stadium Srinagar.
IGP Vijay Kumar said that they are looking at two aspects of the case. “One is matching DNA samples and another is to investigate whether these 3 persons who had come from Rajouri were in contact with local militants or not ?

Some days before families of 18 year old Abrar Ahmed Khan son of Bagha Khan, 26 year old Imtiyaz Hussain son of Sabir Hussain, both residents of Dhar Sakri of Tehsil Qotranka of Rajouri and 21 year old Abrar Ahmed son of Muhammad Yousuf of Tarkasi village of same Tehsil had lodged missing report of them in Rajouri police station and claimed that those killed in the Amshipora Shopian encounter are these missing youth.(KNS)
