ATTACKS AND AFTER

After the recent attacks of BJP affiliated panchs and sarpanchs in various parts of Kashmir valley, the new Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has asked his administration to have a fresh look to provide a secure and safe environment for the local leaders to work.

Recently there were three militant attacks on BJP leaders. The attacks followed the killings of former BJP district president Bandipora, Wasim Bari and his father Bashir Ahmad and brother Umar Bari last month. These attacks and killings have resulted in a fresh wave of fear among the panchs and sarpanchs and most of them affiliated with BJP have left their homes to safer places.

Although the government has said that they have provided safe accommodation to a lot of BJP workers in the recent past after the attacks, hundreds of such workers according to local BJP leaders are still vulnerable.

Government has made fresh security arrangements and also reviewed the security of all the political leaders including the grass root political workers especially those affiliated with BJP.

New LG Manoj Sinha said that he will see to it that there are fresh security arrangements in place for these panchs and sarpanchs and assured them that he will look after their welfare and security.

New LG has also asked the administration to be people friendly and have a lot of communication with the general public so that the government can create trust with the public for the implementation of welfare schemes.
