Tension on borders

In the past few weeks, there have been additional deployments in the border areas of Kashmir and also Poonch, Rajouri areas of Jammu region.

These deployments at the eve of autumn season speak volumes about the state of affairs on the borders and about the tension and fears among the villagers living in these border areas.

Kashmir valley and Rajouri, Poonch areas in Jammu division are witnessing more movement of army and paramilitary forces to border areas.

Growing tension on LOC has resulted in movement of more troops to the forward areas according to the local villagers from Uri, Keran, Taghdhar and Machil areas of North Kashmir. Similar reports are coming from Rajouri and Poonch areas of Jammu while the international border is silent so far.

In the recent past army commanders on ground have been talking about the growing tension on the western front and also about the possibility of hot borders in near future.

People of the forward areas, especially those villages which are coming under the impact of border shelling are living under constant fear. Cross border shelling has only increased in the past one year and it has inflicted heavy losses to these villagers including death and destruction.
