Baramulla Court convicts man for life imprisonment

Baramulla, Sep 19: A local court on Saturday sentenced a man to life imprisonment after holding him guilty of attacking and killing of a man in Sopore area of north Kashmiri’s Baramulla district.

Sources told news gathering agency Kashmir Dot Com-(KDC) that Principal and District Sessions Judge Baramulla Sanjay Parihar on Saturday convicted Altaf Ahmad Tantry of Brath Kalan Sopore for life imprisonment and imposed fine of rupees two lakhs upon him in case FIR number 436 under section 302, 109 of 2010 registered in Police Station Sopore. Court has also directed to provide 1.5 lakh rupees of fine to the victim’s family.

On 28 August 2010 Showket Ahmad Tantry of Brath Kalan Sopore was attacked by the accused along with his brother and father with sharp weapons which results in the death of the deceased.

Accordingly, after completion of investigation challan was presented before the Court on 4th November-2010, during the trial at-least 21 Witnesses were recorded, and today Principle Sessions Judge Baramulla has convicted Altaf Ahmad under section 302, brother and father of the accused were acquitted for not having sufficient evidence against them.
