Families waiting

Families waiting

After an army spokesman said that their troops have violated the norms and laws set under AFSPA in the Shopian fake encounter, the families of those victims have asked the government to allow them to exhume the bodies so that they get them a decent burial in their native village of Rajouri.

LG Manoj Sinha has assured the families of Rajouri that they will get justice if the two parallel probes going on into the Shopain fake encounter case will find anyone responsible for such killings. The response of LG Sinha came after these families appealed for his intervention as they were waiting for the results of DNA samples without any official assistance to them.

With little financial support available to the family members of three young boys who had come to Kulgam and Shopian to work as laborers in the apple orchards, are waiting for the results of DNA tests taken by police a few weeks back as the investigation is going at a very slow pace.

The Army has come out with a statement clearly saying that it was a fake encounter and those killed were innocent persons. Now the political parties have demanded that they would be punished because they have the cover under AFSPA.

They have given the previous examples when army and security personnel were indicted in different fake encounters but were not punished due to AFSPA.
