Challenging task

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has been instrumental in convincing the central government that they will have to ease the restrictions on the politicians in Kashmir and set them free so that they can fill the political space.

According to the media reports due to his efforts finally the central government agreed to release former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti though some media reports said that it was due to the fresh petition filed by her daughter in Supreme court that the government decided to release her.

Whatever the facts which led to the release of Mehbooba Mufti, already the mainstream political leaders have started issuing statements saying that they will not tolerate the humiliation and will fight politically to get back what has been snathched from them on August 5, 2019.

Manoj Sinha in the recent past has shown that he will not be walking on the beaten track in Jammu and kashmir but will try to leave his own imprints even if he would be forced to bow out from Raj Bhawan.

The path chosen by Manoj Sinha is strewn with challenges and difficulties. It is not easy in Kashmir to go against the police and security establishment. The way he monitored the probe into the Shopian encounter suggests that he may have to retract from this path, is the opinion of senior media people in Jammu and Kashmir.
