Mainstream political leaders who recently formed a political alliance for the restoration of article 370 have sharply reacted to the ED summons of Farooq Abdullah and have described the move as the old dirty tricks of Delhi to browbeat Kashmiri leadership.
Reacting to the summons, Omar Abdullah took to twitter and said, “The party will be responding to this ED summons shortly. This is nothing less than political vendetta coming days after the formation of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration. To set the record straight no raids are being conducted at Dr Sahib’s residence”.
Mehbooba Mufti who is very vocal against New Delhi and released her audio clip even after only one hour of her release has already denounced such action of New Delhi. She has recently said that the central government should work out a permanent solution to the Kashmir dispute as thousands of people have sacrificed their lives.
In the recent past both central and local leadership of BJP have warned the Kashmiri leadership of serious consequences if they will disturb peace in Kashmir by the new political alliance and now the ED summons have come.
Mehbooba Mufti in her tweet has said, “ED’s sudden summon to Farooq sahab displays the extent of GOIs nervousness about mainstream parties in J&K fighting as one unit. Also reeks of political vendetta & wont in the least blunt our collective resolve to fight for our rights”.
The National Conference in a statement said that BJP has failed to give any political fight to the unity of Kashmiri leadership and have now started using their agencies to break the will of Kashmiri leaders.
The statement of the National Conference said, “ED summon to Dr Farooq Abdullah is clearly the result of the unity that Dr Sahib has been able to forge among mainstream political parties in J&K. This is the price one faces when opposed to BJP’s ideology and divisive politics. Recent history is a witness to how BJP has been employing coercion and intimidation measures through various departments to target opposition leaders across the country. The recent ED summon to Dr Farooq Abdullah is a case in point.”
The statement further said, “The timing of the recent summon is very clear. His previous summons was just before Aug 5 last year and today’s summon comes within days of forming the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration of which Dr Farooq Abdullah has taken a lead.”
