MOOMINABAD BATAMALOO WITHOUT DRAINAGE SYSTEM FACE WATER LOGGED LANES

Srinagar: Residents of Moominabad Batamaloo Srinagar are aghast over the defunct drainage system, which has made their life hell especially during the rains and snow. Moominabad is not the only locality of Srinagar which gets submerged in the drainage and rain waters but the drainage system in the main city is showing only the signs of failures.

Residents of Moominabad recently protested and said that they have been appealing to the government to set right the faulty drainage system but even after a decade, they are only getting hollow assurances from the authorities.

Residents said that this drainage system of their area has shown the signs of failure for a decade now but the residents have to suffer especially during the rains and snow as the lanes and by-lanes of this locality get inundated in the waters. It results in a lot of sufferings for the residents especially the aged people and patient and any emergency emerging in the locality brings a lot of anxiety among them.

 “Due to the poor drainage the system in the area, we have to face a lot of problems, these lanes get submerged even with a few centimeters of rains, we cannot even go for work when It’s raining or snowing says Mehraj Ahmad a resident of Moominabad Batamaloo.

Appealing divisional commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and other concerned authorities to have a visit to Moominabad area of Batamaloo, the residents said that if the authorities will not pay any attention to their problems they would be forced to come on the streets by such the attitude of the Government.
