PMDP projects

Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) projects have been going on in Jammu and Kashmir from the past so many years. During the earlier two terms of Congress, the central government for the restructuring of development in Jammu and Kashmir created this package and a lot of funds came to this place.

Many of these projects missed the deadlines and some of them were completed while the central government also withheld funds for many ongoing projects under this head.

Then came Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Srinagar and announced a mega package of Rs 80 thousand crores for the post flood development in both Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the political dispensations of Jammu and Kashmir, the central government has never released the funds on time and many of the projects were hanged due to the lack of funds and rest is history.

While the local governments of Jammu and Kashmir have blamed the central government for the delay in these projects, the central government has also maintained the delay has been on the part of the bureaucracy of Jammu and Kashmir who did not move the files on time.

In this blame game between the JK governments and central governments people of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered enough for the lack of development.

When Jammu and Kashmir came under central rule after the BJP withdrew support to the PDP government of Mehbooba Mufti, then governor Satya Pal Malik identified many delayed projects in Jammu and Kashmir and got the funds for them to complete such projects in a new timeline.
