LoC flares up again, several houses and mosque damaged in north Kashmir

Srinagar: Several residential houses and a Mosque were partially damaged as Indo-Pak troops engaged in firing and intense mortar shelling in Dhani, Hajitra areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Karnah sectors of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district last evening.

A local news gathering agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) quoting an unnamed official reported that last evening Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire by resorting to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control in Dhani, Hajitra sector and used intense firing and shelling targetting forward posts and civilian areas’, prompting strong and effective retaliation by the Indian Army guarding the LoC, the officials added.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS) Correspondent, The exchanged firing and shelling betwen Indo-Pak troops from across the LoC started around 6 P.M and continued intermittently for around four hours causing panic among the residents who rushed to safer places for saving their lives, during this course five residential houses and a mosque got partially demaged.

A police officer confirmed to KNS that, five residential houses belonging to Altaf Ahmad Tanoli son of Khalil-Ur-Rehman Tanoli, Nazir Ahmad Tanoli son of Abdul Rehman Tanoli, Zahir Ahmad Tanoli son of Sai Tanooli, Nisaar Ahmad Tanooli son of Khalil Rehman and Imtiyaz Ahmad Tanooli son of Hidayatullah Tanooli residents of Sadhpora, adding that mosque also got partially demaged.
However, the police official said that no casualties or injuries were reported during the shelling.(KNS)
