Ban extended

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to extend the ban on 4G internet services in 18 districts of Jammu and Kashmir even after DDC elections are also over.

This continuous ban is hampering the examination process of thousands of students who were recently told to sit for online classes from different institutions.

After a lot of protests and appeals Jamia Millia Islamia finally decided to give relief to the Kashmiri students for not sitting in online examination from here.

The latest decision by the government has upset the student community in Jammu and Kashmir and also the traders who are suffering losses due to slow speed of internet.

According to a latest government order, high speed internet has been again linked with national security. The order says there have been efforts by the anti-national elements to lure youth to join militant ranks and the field agencies have underlined the need to continue with suitable restrictions on high-speed mobile internet connectivity to curb unfettered use of social media.

On the December 11 order, the government said the low-speed internet would continue due to “likelihood of misuse of the data services by anti-national elements to disrupt the democratic process by creating fear among the voters, carrying out attacks on security forces, targeting contesting candidates and the workers.”
