Waiting for justice

Waiting for justice

The families of three youth from Rajouri who were killed in a fake encounter at Shopian on July 18, 2020, had a long wait for the promised justice. Their hopes have soared again as the army has completed the internal process and it’s likely that any army officer would be court martial.

These Rajouri families had been assured by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha that they would get justice and he himself walked on foot to their homes to express his solidarity with them.

These poor families have been waiting for the justice to come as all the three youths had come from a poor village from Rajouri to Shopain to earn some money for their families.

Will the government compensate the families properly is the big question mark as so far there have been only assurances. The families have no access to the power or to the politicians and have no means to knock the doors of justice.

The Army has already completed their internal process and now the police should also complete the investigation and submit its report to the government so that these families have not to wait for long even to get proper compensation.

These families were forced to move from pillar to post in Kashmir valley even after the DNA samples get back the bodies so that they can get them a decent burial.
