Vaccination drive

Vaccination drive was started in UT of Jammu and Kashmir on due date despite inclement weather in Kashmir valley. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir himself monitored that covid-19 vaccination reached the cut off areas like Gurez.

As decided by the central government vaccine shots were being given first to the health workers in Jammu and Kashmir. In this connection

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the world’s largest vaccination drive to eradicate COVID-19 pandemic.  Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, who attended a virtual programme of the vaccine launch by Prime Minister Modi at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu termed it as a historic event dedicated to corona warriors and front line workers On the occasion, Lt Governor also inaugurated and witnessed the administering of the first dose of the vaccine to a sanitation in-charge of GMC Jammu.

In Jammu and Kashmir corona warriors and front line workers have played a key role to treat the covid patients in spite of their own health risk. Many of them died also due to covid infection while treating the patients across the covid designated hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir.

Terming the occasion as a historic day in the fight against Covid pandemic, Lt Governor said he was delighted that the wait for this much-awaited vaccine has finally come to an end.
