Wearing Face masks mandatory, violators will be fined: DC Srinagar

Amid rising surge in Covid19 cases, District Development Commissioner Srinagar Ajaz Asadh today use of masks at public places would be mandatory for people and violators would face penalty and onspot Covid19 detection test.

He had called a meeting of top officials from Health Department and related departments today.

Speaking to KNS after the meeting, DC said Srinagar is witnessing a surge in Covid cases.

“In February only over 30 cases of Coronavirus were reported from Srinagar and in this month so for 70 such cases have been reported. It is a worrisome situation for us. Need of hour is to take precautionary measures,” he said.

Ajaz Asadh also said those who think coronovorius is over are wrong.
“There is a need to adopt a strategy. The meeting decided to make use of face masks mandatory at public places, hotels, malls, buses and other places. We will fine those who will violate wearing of masks protocol. our teams will conduct on spot Covid tests as well,” he said.
However he added that administration will first raise awareness about use of make for some days and then only violators would be fined.

Ajaz Asadh assured that Covid-19 SOPs will be strictly followed.
“Infected travelers are being isolated right on the Airport. We can’t take chances,” he said (KNS)
