Recently, former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti was grilled by the Enforcement Directorate officials in their Rajbagh office of Srinagar after she refused to be questioned in the Delhi office and gave a lot of reasons for the same.

She even went to the court of law to debar the Enforcement Directorate from questioning her but after some hearing of the case; finally the court refused to intervene and said that she will have to face the investigation.

Mehbooba Mufti said that she was ready to cooperate provided she was either questioned through virtual mode from New Delhi or at the Rajbagh office of Enforcement Directorate.

After the four hours of questioning by the Enforcement Directorate, former chief minister and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti said dissent has been criminalized in the country and political opponents are being hounded by different agencies. She said that she cannot be brow beaten by such tactics of the central government and claimed that it was only because of her raising the voice for the protection of the constitution she was facing these agencies.

Mehbooba Mufti has also a case pending in JK high court as she has challenged the government decision not to issue her the passport while as JK CID wing has submitted a report recently to the court saying that they have a adverse report against her for not giving their required clearance for the issuance of passport.
