Police suggest to media not to go for live gunfight coverage’s

Police have suggested to media persons operating in Kashmir valley not to provide live courage to the gunfights and not to cover any incident regarding law and order problem live.

In the recent past there have been some live courage’s of protests from downtown Srinagar and south Kashmir showing stone pelting and also the police charge on the protestors including firing of pellets.

On the social media platforms some clips showing the cops thrashing journalists after an encounter and protests went viral.

According to KNS IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar today advised media persons not to carry any live coverage of encounters and Law and Order situation.

“Don’t interfere in the professional and bonafide duty of police and security forces at encounter sites,” Advisory says.

The advisory also reads that “The freedom of speech and expression is subject to reasonable restrictions that should not violate other people’s right to life guaranteed under Article 21 or putting the national security in jeopardy,” he said.

“Do not interfere in professional and bonafide duty of police and security forces at the encounter site. No operational content should be carried which is likely to incite violence or contain anything against maintenance of L&O or which promotes anti national sentiment,” IGP further said.
