Is lockdown option?

As the covid-19 second wave is showing a sharp spike, the JK administration is trying to control the situation by imposing few restrictions but they feel that lockdown is not an option right now.

It is unfortunate that there is an increase in the covid-19 cases while the tourism industry has been witnessing a lot of tourists coming to Kashmir and many of them have tested positive.

In such a situation the administration is trying to control the infection by asking the people to adhere to the norms and the protocols of the covid infection so that it does not spread further.

But the growing problem is the number of cases increasing on a daily basis and it is a cause of worry not only for the administration but also for the tourism industry as they badly need this season because of their debt and growing financial liabilities.

Jammu and Kashmir cannot afford another lockdown as the previous disruption in life since August 5, 2019, has already broken the back of the economy and the people are finding it very difficult for survival as there are no economic activities picking up.

Tourism industry is grappling with the problem and the tourists who have tested positive are being looked after by the houseboat owner and the hoteliers themselves as the government has decided not to provide any quarantine facility for the travelers who are testing positive to covid-19 infection.
