AP urges Anantnag administration to prepare for anticipated Covid-19 situation

Expressing serious concern over the rise in COVID-19 cases across Jammu and Kashmir, Apni Party (AP) on Monday  urged District administration Anantnag to take necessary measures to tackle the expected disastrous situation.

AP District President Anantnag Abdul Rahim Rather in a statement on Monday expressed his serious concerns over the exponential rise in Covid-19 cases across J&K.

The situation is worsening on a daily basis as more and more cases are being reported from various parts of the valley, he said.

He said that the administration needs to wake up and prepare for necessary measures required to tackle the expected disastrous Covid-19 situation in district Anantnag. “It is high time for the administration along with the Health Care Department to assess the situation on ground and take all the necessary measures required to halt the spread of Covid-19 contagion in district Anantnag,” he urged.

He further said that the Oxygen Generation Plants should be made operational at an earliest so that no oxygen deficiency is faced by the Covid-19 patients. “The administration must ensure that an ample supply of oxygen is provided to health care facilities in the district”, he said adding besides that, one more such plant needs to be installed at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Kokernag as well, in view of its huge patient inflow.

He also said that supplementary arrangements for patient accommodations and beds with all essential facilities needs to be made beforehand in a similar manner as has been done at Srinagar.

“There exists a dire need to increase the ICU bedding capacity of the M M Beigh Hospital and GMC Anantnag up to 30 beds as the government has already designated GMC Anantnag as the tertiary care Hospital for Anantnag and Kulgam districts,” he said.

Furthermore, he urged that adequate numbers of oxygen concentrators must be made available at places where providing liquid oxygen facility is impossible. “The oxygen concentrators remain perquisite for the patients where liquid oxygen facility is unavailable. Besides that, the government must sanction and post the required staff at the Covid-19 designated Hospital in Bijbehara, so that patients have not to suffer for getting their treatment at an earliest,” he said.

He also urged the people of district Anantnag to observe all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in letter and spirit while avoiding going out without any specific purpose. “The people must act responsibly in order to break the chain of this dreaded disease and also they must get vaccinated at their nearest inoculation centre. Moreover, the government must see that an adequate supply of vaccine shots is made available in the district so that people don’t have to face any inconvenience,” he said.
