Ordeal of a corona positive patient to get admitted in Srinagar hospitals

Working with this group of newspaper Ajaz Ahmad Darzi resident of Habba Kadal has known from pillar to post to get admitted in covid designated hospital of Srinagar.

Recently he tested positive along with his wife and went to Chest Disease hospital of Srinagar were he was advised to home quarantine himself along with his family.

On Thursday evening, Ajaz’s oxygen level started dropping and forced him to go to the hospital again. He was again told by the doctors in the ground floor of the hospitals to come on Friday morning and they will see if they have any vacant beds.

Accordingly on Friday morning Ajaz Ahmad Darzi again approached CD hospital authorities for admission but was flatly refused. He was told to approach other hospitals and finally he reached covid designated hospital of Rainawari and they also refused to admit him saying that he should be referred to the hospital from NIT quarantine centre.

While the condition of Ajaz is serious he is running from one hospital to another in Srinagar to get admitted. Director Health Services Kashmir was not available for the comment while as Principal Government Medical College Srinagar and in charge of other associated hospitals was not reachable on phone.

Like Ajaz there are dozens of patients in Srinagar city waiting to get admission in covid designated hospitals while despite having even the beds vacant they were not admitting them thus endangering their lives.
