Yet another IED found and defused in South Kashmir

Police and security forces have yet again recovered an IED in the Tral area of Pulwama district on Monday and averted a major tragedy.

In the past few days police and security have detected and defused several IEDs both in South Kashmir and Srinagar and the timely detection have saved lives, said senior police officers to the media.

In Tral there have been few incidents including the killing of BJP local leader Rakesh Pandita who had come from Jammu and was killed at his friend’s house.

BJP has blamed the police and the government for his killing but the police said that he had not informed his PSO’s and SHO Tral about his movement and there was no security lapse.

Meanwhile GNS in its report on the detection of IED in Tral area of South Kashmir has said, Police and government forces said that they have recovered an Improvised Explosive Device, weighing about 5-7 kilograms, near Saimu area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said on Monday.

A police officer told a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS) that a Bomb Disposal Squad has been rushed to the spot to defuse the device.

Lately, police and government forces have detected and defused a number of IEDs in Tral and other parts of the Valley.

Last weekend, an IED was recovered and defused near Chanapora police post.
