Ghulam Nabi Azad has been in news in the latest reports coming from New Delhi that he is playing an important part to set the stage for the talks between the centre and the leadership of Jammu and Kashmir.

Azad has been advocating for the safeguards of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir so that they do not feel insecure because of the abrogation of article 370.

The introduction of new laws to Jammu and Kashmir has also been opposed by Azad and in the recent past he has advocated for inclusion of Jammu and Kashmir political parties in the meetings of the delimitation commission.

He has told the media that National Conference MP’s from Kashmir valley must participate in the meetings of the delimitation commission so that they put forward their point of view about the reorganization of constituencies.

According to various media reports and people privy to the recent visits of J&K mainstream leaders to New Delhi, informal talks were being held with all the mainstream political leaders, including Sajad Lone, Farooq Abdullah and PDP, though Mehbooba Mufti is not directly in touch.

However, the role of Ghulam Nabi Azad has been highlighted in some of the news reports coming from New Delhi that he is very keen for such talks so that there is some way out for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
