With focus on sports, the government of Jammu and Kashmir has been given much attention to such activities especially after the second wave of pandemic is showing a dip.
Recently LG Manoj Sinha while taking a review meeting of J&K Sports Council and the sports department has asked his officers for the involvement of more youth in sports activities.
He was informed that the sports activities would be enhanced and the LG has set this year’s target for the Department of Youth Services & Sports and J&K Sports Council for engaging 17.5 lakh boys & girls from across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir in different sports disciplines.
While taking a detailed assessment of the activities, achievements, and targets for 2021-22, the Lt Governor advised the concerned functionaries to encourage youth to take up sports by adopting multi-pronged strategy developing Sports Infrastructure, conducting Sports Activities and imparting Training/Coaching; besides ensuring full utilization of the assets and the available human resources.
He was informed that play-fields are being developed in 1628 panchayats and for the rest of the panchayats, school grounds will be utilized for the sporting activities for the time-being.
He directed the Department of Youth Services & Sports for maintaining an inventory online, besides preparing the data of sports equipment distributed at various levels.
The government of Jammu and Kashmir is trying its best to organize events here so that the sports sector is getting the required exposure at the national level and the youth who have the required talent get the exposure and their talent gets the much needed platform.
