Rs. 5100 fine imposed on erring traders at B’pora

 

BANDIPORA, JULY 17: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed, a market checking squad of Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) , Municipal Council Bandipora held a market checking in Bandipora and realized a fine of Rs 5100 from erring shopkeepers.

Taking strong note of the complaints of over-pricing, the district administration launched a massive district-wide inspection drive to curb over-pricing and take immediate action against instances of violations.

Assistant Director FCS&CA, Bilal Ahmad along with Tehsildar Bandipora and other officers conducted inspection of various business establishments including vegetable, fruit sellers, Kiryana, Bakery, LPG distributors and fuel dispensing pumps at different markets of Bandipora. During the inspection, several traders were booked under different laws for violation of various laws and a fine of Rs 5100 was imposed on erring traders.

On the occasion, the Assistant Director stressed on the traders to avoid over-pricing and other illegal and unethical practices and urged them to follow the rules in letter and spirit. He also asked the vendors to follow the packaged commodity rules and other Metrology Acts besides following Covid SOPs strictly.

He said that the drive will continue on a regular basis across all district markets to keep a check on traders and shopkeepers for indulging in overcharging and other unethical activities.

He said he has directed all the concerned officers to ensure regular inspections of markets falling within their respective jurisdiction and take strict action against those indulging in overpricing and other malpractices.
