The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home is slated to visit both union territories of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir in the middle of the current month and the official announcement would be made soon.

However, media reports have said that the tentative schedule for the committee’s visit was August 16 to 22 as they are going to stay both in Ladakh and J&K.

It is in place to mention that the Parliamentary Standing Committee is being headed by Congress leader Anand Sharma, and he is likely to meet civil society, political representatives and the grassroots leaders of both UTs besides interacting with trade and industry leaders.

According to TNS while reporting about the scheduled visit it has said in its report, the visit will be the first by any parliamentary committee since the Abrogation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of J&K into two Union Territories.

The scheduled tour of the committee is even more important as it comes in the middle of the ongoing delimitation exercise in J&K with all parties of the UT demanding restoration of full statehood to J&K before the conduct of elections there.
