Army chopper crashes due to technical snag in Kathua

One army chopper crashed in Kathua district of Jammu on Tuesday as it developed some technical snag, police and local news agencies from Jammu said.

These reports further said that the chopper crashed around 11.00 AM on Tuesday with 5 to 6 people on board.  They said that the crash happened in Purthu in Basohli, which is a hilly area in Kathua district of Jammu.

Witnesses and police said that the chopper after coming crashing down fell into a lake of Ranjit Sagar Dam after developing some technical snag.

According to the news agency KNO Police and Army teams have left for the spot for rescue operation.

“Ranjit Sagar Dam shares a border with Punjab, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir, however, the area where the chopper crashed falls in Kathua district,” the official said.
