RIVER BANK

River banks of Jhelum are of great importance as this river flows the Kashmir culture and heritage. In order to give a face lift to the banks of river Jhelum in the Srinagar city, the government has embarked on different developmental projects under the smart city project.

Recently LG Manoj Sinha visited Zero Bridge and took on spot assessment of different projects and was also informed by the administration that by the September of this year in the first phase a portion of the beautification project in the Srinagar city would be completed.

He also took stock of the works being executed under different components of the project including the development of pathways along Jhelum revetment, public utilities, and embankment along riverbank, parks, Wi-Fi zones and illumination work.

He passed specific directions to the concerned officers for completion of the project within the set timelines without any delay.

On being informed that the project is being executed in convergence of various departments, he directed for maintaining proper inter-departmental coordination, adopting best practices, and applying the learning gained from the experts for getting desired results on ground.

In the first phase, a 2 km stretch from Zero Bridge to Amira Kadal will be developed by the month of September.
