Div Com inspects Agriculture farm, other infrastructure projects in Reasi

Attends Exhibition of crafts, other products produced by SHGs

JAMMU, AUGUST 26: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer inspected the Seed Multiplication Farm, Granwalla and took stock of various ongoing activities of the Agriculture Department on the last leg of his two day visit to Reasi district.

During the visit, he also reviewed the progress of ongoing construction of Soil Testing Laboratory and on the spot instructions to the concerned executive agencies for its early completion for the benefit of the farming community of Reasi District.

Later, he visited the Mushroom Demonstration cum Training Centre at SM Farm where he took stock of the Milky Mushroom Demonstration laid by the Department.

The Divisional Commissioner also visited Vegetable Cluster, Granwalla where he interacted with the progressive farmers Ganga Ram.

The Divisional Commissioner appreciated the role of the Agriculture Department in reaching out to the farming community of the District.

He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Charandeep Singh and concerned officers.

Chief Agriculture Officer, Sudhir Singh Chib, gave a detailed review of ongoing agriculture activities and schemes being implemented in the District.

Later, the Divisional Commissioner along with DC visited the “Exhibition cum Craft Mela” at village Malair, which was organised by SHGs of JKRLM.

District Nodal officer Jugal Sharma and BPM Pouni were also present on the occasion.

During this day long Exhibition cum Craft Mela, about 50 SHG members participated and exhibited their handicraft and food products which included  Grass craft items, pickles, embroidery products, paintings, soft toys, Sirah Aroma lemon gift sets, lemon oil, Dogra cuisines etc.

The Div Com appreciated the hard work and talent of the artisans and guided them about the importance of packaging, branding, labelling and marketing of the local products and urged them to Use E market plate forms for selling of local handmade products. “One needs to take advantage of branding and marketing in promoting products’ he said.

The Div Com appreciated the efforts of JKRLM in developing the competitive strength of the SHG members. He further acknowledged the role of JKRLM in changing the life of SHG women of Reasi.

A Pickle manufacturing unit was also inaugurated by the Divisional Commissioner, in presence of DC Reasi at Village Malair.
