Rains lash Srinagar and other parts, bring chill in atmosphere

Fresh rains on Saturday brought the temperatures down in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir while a nip in the air along with cold temperature is being reported from the hilly areas of Kashmir.

Srinagar city witnessed spells of rains in the morning and was followed by further spells during the day making life difficult for the people as there were frequent traffic jams due to the overflowing of drains and also due to the pools of waters by the rains.

According CNS while reporting about the rains of Saturday it has said in its report, moderate to heavy rains lashed Kashmir this morning with temperature further dipping in hilly areas and people witnessed an unusually cold morning in the month of summer.

Shalimar area here in Srinagar, received a rainfall of 40.0 mm of rains till 0830 hours. Light to moderate rain showers are expected in both Jammu and Kashmir regions during the next 36hrs, MET said.

Srinagar, summer capital of the state, recorded a low of 22.3 degrees Celsius and is expected to say 2 – 8 °C degrees below normal, following rains overnight.

However, Dry weather is expected for next week as no significant system will affect the UT. Weathermen forecast no continuous rains.
