Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, P K Pole  recently said that in majority of the villages, the government has established playgrounds for the local boys to show their skills.

He said that about 80 per cent among them have been completed in the villages and for the rest of the 20% government is in the process of identifying the land for these playgrounds so that all the panchayats in Jammu and Kashmir get the playing fields.

Talking to reporters on the side-lines of the sports event here, Pole as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the playgrounds have been established in 80 per cent of the panchayats in the Valley.

He said that the land is being identified for rest of the playfields in other panchayats, saying that the grounds will be established under MNREGA or other schemes.

Also, Indoor Stadiums have been constructed in every district and are functional now.

Pole said that since the Covid second wave has started decreasing, the sports events are being organized across the Valley, adding that almost 300 children participated in the events organized in the last couple of days.

“Sports doesn’t only benefit health, but also teach us the discipline,” he added.
