A 50-year-old man was on Friday mauled to death in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.
Official sources said that a wild bear entered a village in Kokernag, Anantnag, on Friday from a nearby forest. “Before the locals could react, the bear attacked and critically wounded a man, identified as Abdul Rasheed Bhat,” they said.
They said the injured was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. “The wild animal later returned to the forest,” they said.
After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites.
