Support other political parties to consolidate Muslim votes in J-K: Sajad Lone tells NC

Srinagar: The Peoples conference chairman, Sajad Lone on Saturday said that the former chief minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah should support other political parties over their party to consolidate muslim votes if he believes new political parties are defying Muslim unity.

As per a local news agency, Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, addressing media on the sidelines of joining function of senior PDP leader, Nizamuddin Bhat into PC, Lone said that Farooq Abdullah should give a chance to other parties and support them, if he thinks that new political parties in J-K are defying the Muslim unity.

Lone said that Abdullah should support every party so that Muslim votes won’t get split. “Enough of family rule in J-K. Other parties should also be given a chance.”

He said that as is known to everyone that NC has ruled over J-K for three generations and a chance should be given to other people to contest elections and work for the people of J-K.

Lone said that PC is a 45-year-old political party and nobody can say that “we are new to politics.”

“We are here for the welfare of the people and not to defy their unity, who have been victims for years,” he said.

Notably, Nizam-ud-din Bhat, who joined back the PC after nearly three decades, had fought 1983 and 1987 elections on PC ticket and he lost the 1987 election, which were largely alleged to have been rigged by the NC-Congress alliance with a thin margin of votes. (KNS)
