Power sector is in the priority list of the central government and both the J & K administration along with central government officials are monitoring many power sector projects periodically so that they are completed on time.
In this connection recently Union Secretary Power reviewed progress of power sector works across J&K and was briefed about the pace of work on different projects.
He said that the power officials in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir have been working very hard and it is because of their efforts that they have been able to integrate IT Assets.
He inspected GSS Rawalpora, GIS Tengpora and talked to the officials to get the feel of ground situation and about the work conditions of PDD officials.
He also chaired a meeting to review the progress of various power sector related works and issues in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
He was given a detailed presentation on the progress of the power sector in distribution, transmission and Hydro projects across J&K by the officials of J&K administration.
He was also briefed about the energy demand and consumption in the Union Territory.
In order to liquidate Power Purchase liabilities, JK has availed soft loans to the tune of Rs 11029.47 Cr offer from Government of India to clear liabilities of power purchase to GENCOS and TRANSCOS.
